Renovation of the Dormitories at Giu Lae Luang in 2020

8 Years ago the Araya Foundation renovated an old unused building on the GLL School campus. This allowed the school to take in Hill Tribe children as boarding students and provide them with a better education.

Due do the years of harsh climate and the hundreds of children who have stayed here. The dormitories are in real need of another refresh. Here are some photos of the foundation along the school estimating the needs of this project.

– Carpentry Begins
 
Construction has started on the dormitory at GLL school. Some of the work being done is replacing all doors, window frames and shutters. We are also replacing all the patchwork repairs done over the years with proper carpentry work.

Joining us is Khun Narongchai, former Principal of Baan Maelong school in Hod, who has been instrumental in the planning and execution of this project.

– The Painters Arrive –
 
The paint arrived on-site today and the painters are hard at work. A few hours in and you can already see a major improvement.

We would like to give a special thanks to Unique Products(Thailand) Co.,Ltd. and Araya Foundation President Khun Metha for their joint donation of high quality paint to this project.
 

 

November 20, 2020

– Plumbing and Sewage System –

Replacement of the plumbing and sewer system has begun at the dormitory and construction work is nearly finished with the repairs to the wall panels and flooring just about completed.

 

November 21, 2020 

– Almost Done –

The carpentry work has been completed and the paint work is nearly done. With the plumbing well under way, work is nearly finished.

A special shout out to Khun Narongchai for clearing out the grass so the plumbers and painters can get to work.

 

December 20, 2020 

– Completion –

With the installation of window screens and security bars, the contruction phase of the renovation project at GLL school has come to and end.

We offer a special thanks to Dr. Duen Marti, our founder, who raised the funds for this project. Khun Metha and Unique Products (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. who donated the paint and primer. And finally, Khun Narongchai, former principle of Baan Maelong School, who helped organize and manage the labor, keeping things on schedule. This project could not have happened with out the help of everyone.
